

Blacksmith Contest Rules

The goal of this years Blacksmith Contest is to add to the beauty
of the A.C. Dysart Park. All contestants’ artwork will be exhibited
to the area known as the staging area. The staging area is used
for Trophy Ceremony, Cowboy Church, Entertainment, and a variety
of youth presentations throughout the weekend of Stagecoach Days.
This area has over 30 panels of rod iron fencing that can be decorated.
This year’s blacksmith contest will contribute to the beauty of
the grounds for generations. The contest art work will be displayed
in a 15 foot rod iron panels that are about five feet high, with
half inch square tubing running vertical with in the panel. Our
goal is to add a center art piece into the center of these panels.
Blacksmiths come and take part in the “Beautification of Banning”
and continue the art of the Blacksmithing tradition.
Prizes are based on the amount of entries which will include a
70/30 split. The 70/30 split will means 70 percent of the prize
money will go towards the winners and 30 percent will go towards
the expenses of the contest and bounce prices.
The specifications for all entries are:
1. All completed art work must be 12 inches by 12 inches.
2. All entries must be in good taste due to the public viewing
of this art.
3. The theme of these entries should reflect the theme of Stagecoach
Days.
All entries will be judged by the experienced Blacksmith Lee Green.
He is the owner of the Shoe’n Shoppe. He is known to the locals
as the God Father of Ferries and Blacksmiths alike. We at Banning
Stagecoach Days are very proud to have Lee represent us in this
Blacksmith contest.
The contest takes place between 8 a.m. and 12 p.m. on Saturday,
September 11, 2010 at A.C. Dysart Park, Banning, CA. Our contest
area is just inside the gate and up on the hill. Come early so
you can unload your equipment.
Electricity and water will be provided during the contest. Also,
Lee Green has offered to provide us with one inch wide flat stock
for your use.

Directions: From I-10 to Banning, Exit 22nd Street, Turn South
until it ends, Turn Left and enter the first gate on your right,
Enter the main entrance and head up the hill, Will allow you to
bring your vehicles into the area to drop off are equipment, but
you'll have to return to the parking lot to park.
